Meet Dr Milap Rughani

Dr Milap Rughani is a Specialist Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon practising in Brisbane and North Lakes, Queensland. With over 15 years of experience in plastic surgery, his areas of practice include skin cancer surgery, complex reconstructive surgery and cosmetic procedures involving the face, breast and body.
Originally from the United Kingdom, Dr Rughani completed his specialist plastic surgery training in Oxford before undertaking further subspecialty training in Australia. He holds specialist fellowships from both the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS Plast) and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS Plast), awarded through examination.
Since 2019, Dr Rughani has held a Staff Specialist appointment at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, where his clinical work includes reconstructive surgery for patients with cancer and traumatic injuries. He also maintains a private practice providing plastic, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery across North Brisbane and North Lakes.
Surgical Training & Experience
Dr Rughani studied medicine at the University of Leeds, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), having also completed a Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours.
He subsequently undertook surgical training in the United Kingdom, completing his specialist plastic and reconstructive surgery training in Oxford.
Following his specialist training, Dr Rughani pursued additional surgical fellowships in Australia, including:
- Microsurgical Reconstruction — Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane: Advanced reconstructive surgery involving microsurgical techniques for complex defects of the face, head, neck and body.
- Melanoma and Surgical Oncology — Melanoma Institute Australia, Sydney: Further training in the surgical management of melanoma and complex skin cancers.
Throughout his career, Dr Rughani has also undertaken further professional training in the United States, Europe, India and Australia, broadening his experience across reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery.
He is board certified in cosmetic plastic surgery through the Australian and New Zealand Board of Cosmetic Plastic Surgery (ANZBCPS).
