MBChB BSc MRCS MRES(oxon) PGDipLATHE CHIA FRCS(plast) FRACS(plast) Dr. Milap Rughani is a fully qualified Specialist Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon based in Brisbane and North Lakes. He is one of only a few surgeons in Australia to hold surgical fellowships—by examination—from both the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons in England. Additionally, he is a member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons and is recognized as a Board Certified Cosmetic Plastic Surgeon by the Australian and New Zealand Board of Cosmetic Plastic Surgery (ANZBCPS). With over 15 years of experience and more than 30,000 procedures performed, Dr. Rughani brings a high level of surgical expertise to the field of plastic surgery in Brisbane, ensuring a strong commitment to patient safety. He completed his specialist training in Plastic Surgery in Oxford, UK, followed by two years of advanced fellowship training in Brisbane and Sydney. Furthermore, Dr. Rughani has been a Staff Specialist Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital since 2019, where he actively contributes to the head and neck, and melanoma multidisciplinary teams, managing complex cancer and trauma cases referred from across Queensland. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Rughani has a strong interest in education and research. He is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Queensland, has published sixteen research papers, and regularly presents at national and international conferences. His postgraduate research in melanoma was completed at the University of Oxford and the Melanoma Institute Australia. Dedicated to improving surgical standards and training, Dr. Rughani has also produced an educational podcast aimed at supporting the ongoing learning of junior plastic surgeons.
